Transportation Alternatives has made detailed, formal presentations at the conferences of several major national, state and provincial organizations, including:
- National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS)
- First Annual Conference of Exceptional Parent magazine
- Second Annual Conference of the National Child Transport Association
- BUSCON
- School Transportation News Western States’ Conference (several conferences)
- Annual Conference of the Association of School Transportation Supervisors of British Columbia (ASTSBC)
- State of Texas Annual Conference of School Transportation Directors
- APTA Bus and Paratransit Conference (several conferences)
In addition, TA’s U.S.-Slovene joint venture company, TAM-USA, exhibited its school bus and motorcoach at a number of national and state trade conferences and exhibitions, including those of the National Association of Pupil Transportation and United Motorcoach Association (formerly United Bus Owners Association). Along with TAM-USA, TA made scores of presentations about these products to groups of school district representatives, private school bus contractors and motorcoach operators.
TA also designed and conducted a two-day workshop titled “Preparing Vehicle Specifications” for Los Angeles County transit agencies and municipalities, sponsored by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA).
In the international arena, TA President Ned Einstein addressed three annual conferences of the U.S. Business Council for Slovenia during his tenure as the organization’s Director. Along with the designated Program Chairperson, TA also co-organized these conferences.
TA President Ned Einstein made formal presentations regarding advanced technology buses and the design/product development processes to Northrop Corporation (which solicited a proposal for an international marketing/technology-sharing project), International Fuel Cells and H-Power Corporation.
Finally, Mr. Einstein made scores of presentations at city council meetings and forums, and conducted workshops with city council representatives and staff of municipal governments and social service agencies, related to various policy-making, planning and system design efforts. Among the most unusual, Mr. Einstein served as a proxy for the State-of-Rhode Island’s state-wide transit system, RIPTA, as a broker in negotiating its own service as a contract service provider to RIPTA in four of the six new service areas defined by TA in its redesign of the statewide paratransit system.
Conference Design and Organization
As Director of the U.S. Business Council for Slovenia, Mr. Einstein helped design and make arrangements for four international conferences held in Bled, Portoroz, Cavtat and Piran. TA also designed and hosted three major meetings of the TAM-USA User Design Committee (including foreign partners to TAM-USA) in Los Angeles, Maribor and Ljubljana.
Prior to his formation of Transportation Alternatives, TA President Ned Einstein designed, organized and served as Acting Director for the USDOT/APTA-sponsored National Conference on Transit Performance (Norfolk, VA, September, 1977) and edited the conference proceedings.
